The Velveteen Bear With Corduroy Buttons

Off to the garden where the moon rises in the past

We’ll find an old friend waiting where we left it last

In oak and hemlock once tamed turned cosmically wild

The velveteen bear with corduroy buttons was exiled

Yet aging unkempt and upside down forever steadfast

Off to the garden rich with gold clementines and pomegranates

Realizing love climaxes when grief attempts to cross planets

While searching for a mammoth amount of esoteric wisdom

The velveteen bear has its corduroy buttons lost and undone

For only through its sunflower eyes can we change our mindsets

Off to the garden full of bunyans and buttercups galore

Where ivy mutates into wildflowers filled with mythic ore

Winged unicorns made of soapstone ingest opals and iridium

Which leaves us horizontal in radiated fields of molybdenum

Still the velveteen bear with corduroy buttons lies flat on the floor

Now off to the future where it’s monochromatic and bleak

The will of our wisps has withered away and gone weak

War will never change and progress will never be free

Yet you’ll turn my own dustbunnies to clouds and pinch me

If only the velveteen bear with corduroy buttons could speak
